Strahan Village is an expansive hotel complex.
It sprawls along the main street of Strahan, and is nestled just back from the banks of the beautiful shores of the Macquarie Harbour.
It boasts a huge range of room options to suit everyone and their budgets.Snuggle down in a waterfront cottage. Or enjoy the views from a hilltop executive harbour view suite. Grab a budget friendly hilltop standard room. Or maybe pamper yourself with a waterfront executive spa room.
We stayed in a hilltop executive harbour view suite during our visit to Strahan and loved it.
Bathroom
The bathroom offers all the amenities you require, toilet, shower and a single sink vanity unit. The generous size of the bathroom gives you plenty of room to move around comfortably.
The highlight of the bathroom is the shower. Strahan Village has possibly the greatest shower we have ever encountered.
The pressure is so high it gives you that borderline painful, but pleasurable skin tingling sensation. It’s almost like a deep tissue massage. Sensational!
The shower is also very spacious. It’s nice and wide and very long. You could fit at least three people in there, if that’s your thing.
Bedroom
The bedroom area was equipped with a king sized bed and a king single bed. The beds are soft and comfortable and perfectly located for watching TV in bed.
Even though our visit was in the middle of winter, the rooms really retained the heat well. The rooms do have adjustable heating and cooling, but we never needed to turn it on.
The pastel yellow coloured walls gives the room a nice warming cabin in the woods type feel that’s very comforting and cosy.
Lounge
A few stairs takes you down from the bedroom into the comfy lounge area. This is a great place to just hangout.
It had a comfortable couch and chairs to lounge around on, as well as a desk if you need to do any work.
The lounge is equipped with a mini bar and coffee making facilities.
The free unlimited WIFI is great! It’s not super fast, but fine for online work and web browsing. It’s also available all the way down along the main street. We were still connected while dining down at Hamer’s Hotel.
Balcony
Opening the double doors from the lounge area leads you out onto your private balcony.
The balcony has some picturesque views thanks to its location. Perched high up on a hill overlooking the whole of Macquarie harbour.
Kick back and watch the sunrise while enjoy your morning coffee. Or grab a cheese platter and enjoy the sunset.
Don’t forget to head out after dark and watch the impressive array of stars at night.
View 42°
View 42° is Strahan Villages in house restaurant/lounge area. It’s a well thought out and designed area.
The room is split between the dining area and lounge area and features an outside seating area with harbour views.
The lounge area is a great place to unwind and chill out. It’s a giant room filled with tables and comfy chairs surrounding a crackling wood fireplace. There is a fully stocked bar and you’re even able to sample some of the local Tasmanian Hellyer Road whiskeys.
It has plenty of fun ideas to keep you and your kids occupied and having fun.
Challenge yourself on the giant puzzle table or head to the games room and grab your favourite board game to play. We had numerous battles of fist mashing playing Hungry Hungry Hippo.
Dining options
We only had one meal in the dining area. And since our visit was during the off peak (winter) season, we only had a limited menu option.
But we had no complaints. The off peak season menu is all about pizzas!
We tucked into two delicious pizzas, a meat lovers and a confit garlic.
Meat lovers was fantastic! Smokey BBQ sauce base layered with all the meaty goodness. Ham, bacon, salami, pepperoni, marinated roast beef and topped off with red onion and melted cheese.
Confit garlic was without a doubt my favourite. The confit process somehow makes the garlic pack a huge garlic punch, but without that raw garlic burn. It was smooth and perfectly complemented by the cheese and sea salt. It’s a simple pizza that just works well and I could honestly eat these everyday.
During the peak (summer) season the menu consists of a Tasmanian gourmet buffet. Featuring soups, salads, a huge range of seafood (oysters, salmon, king prawns) as well as roast meats and veggies, and of course desserts.
Breakfast is a large buffet type affair. Everything you could want for breakfast is on offer.
Most restaurants offer a downsized/limited menu during the off peak (winter) season.
Location
Strahan Village is really in the perfect location. Sitting high on the hill overlooking Macquarie Harbor and along the main street of Strahan. You not only get amazing views, it’s also close to everything.
Most of the biggest attractions in Strahan are within walking distance or a few minutes drive. Gordon River Cruise is a short boardwalk away, The People’s Park (Hogarth Falls) is a short walk also. And The West Coast Wilderness Train is only a few minutes by car away.
